Whole Wheat Biscuits

Ingredients
- Servings: 12
- 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons margarine or 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup skim milk
- 1/4 teaspoon basil
- 1/4 teaspoon thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
Recipe
- 1 combine flours, baking powder and salt in a bowl.
- 2 cut in margarine with a pastry blender or 2 knives.
- 3 add milk, mix quickly.
- 4 turn out onto a floured board.
- 5 knead 6 to 8 times.
- 6 roll 1/4 inch thick.
- 7 cut into 12, 2 inch round biscuits or into wedges or squares.
- 8 place on a lightly greased baking sheet.
- 9 bake in a 425°f oven 12 to 15 minutes until lightly browned.
- 10 for herb biscuits, add basil, thyme and parsley to dry ingredients.
- 11 (these make great dumplings).
