Whole Wheat Biscuits

Total Time: 25 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons margarine or 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup skim milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

Recipe

  • 1 combine flours, baking powder and salt in a bowl.
  • 2 cut in margarine with a pastry blender or 2 knives.
  • 3 add milk, mix quickly.
  • 4 turn out onto a floured board.
  • 5 knead 6 to 8 times.
  • 6 roll 1/4 inch thick.
  • 7 cut into 12, 2 inch round biscuits or into wedges or squares.
  • 8 place on a lightly greased baking sheet.
  • 9 bake in a 425°f oven 12 to 15 minutes until lightly browned.
  • 10 for herb biscuits, add basil, thyme and parsley to dry ingredients.
  • 11 (these make great dumplings).
